Skills Overview

1. Interface design
Delightful and efficient designs systems

Beauty has an important role to play in design, even if we often hear that utility is the primary concern. I emphasize a balance between delightful design that surprises and engages with clarity and purpose, with repeatable and easily workable systems that are well anchored with the engineering teams responsible for bringing the design to life.

2. Concept development
Quick and cheap methods to align and validate

I design high-level concepts and prototypes to inexpensively pinpointing and refining ideas with strong market appeal, technical feasibility, and a robust business case.

3. User research
Relevant insights from all stakeholders

Research is a key part of my design process, and I am proficient in using a variety of methods including desk research, interviews, surveys, and user testing to gather insights from all stakeholders. My data analysis and presentation methods are designed to be inclusive and accessible, allowing everyone to participate in the process.

4. Team lead
Leading high-performance teams with focus on growth

My training in team development allows me to effectively bring new groups together by focusing on key fundamentals such as trust, inclusion, ownership, and effective feedback. I strive to understand individual team member's needs and strengths. Regular retros and feedback sessions ensure individual growth, while skill-sharing and presentations help to elevate the entire team's capabilities. As a product leader, I coordinate our direction with steering committees and other teams and ensure alignment on strategy and execution.

5. Facilitation
Helping everyone work together to reach their best

I specialize in facilitating meetings and workshops that enable groups to tap into their collective potential and achieve their objectives. My approach is centered on creating a collaborative environment where all voices are heard, and I use various techniques to facilitate productive conversations and goal-setting that lead to concrete outcomes.

We also tend to have a lot of fun!

You'll see my tail wagging when we support and challenge each other, care about the craft, and share some really hard wins once in a while. Work is more than a paycheck. At the end of the day, it's all about us—how we feel each morning and how we feel at week's end. I want to care about those I work with, and I want to be cared for.

Fourteen years is not much in the span of a life. Still, it's almost hard to remember the time before design systems, let alone before smartphones and libraries like jQuery and MooTools, which was the state of the art in my early days of building for the web. In an industry changing as fast as ours, decades of experience matter less and less when it comes to the craft. However, the experience I've gained working with 45 companies and organizations across various industries and stages has given me intuition, flexibility, and calmness to navigate the ever-changing challenges we face as designers. I've seen many trends come and go. I've seen new technologies both normalize and fade away. I've witnessed new public innovations and new faces of corporate greed. The renewed appreciation for generalist designers in our industry speaks to the versatility our times demand—a quality I cherish and strive to embody.

This boils down to a design approach that transcends fixed roles and static responsibilities. Curiously adapting yet always results-oriented, prioritizing the success of my team and the business as a whole. Throughly understanding the audience as well as cleaning and removing features typically make for boring design portfolios, yet these actions greatly enhance the product experience and is at the essence of what I believe being a designer is all about. While grand redesigns have their place and is exciting to be part of, it's often the small, focused and often non-flashy changes that compound into the largest wins and sustainable success.

When in a leading role, I strive to develop an effective team based on trust, belonging, and shared responsibility. Team dynamics are very important to me, and I try to focus on team development whenever an opportunity arises. As a result, I'm often remembered by people I don't work closely with for facilitating surprisingly engaging workshops. I take pride in and find much joy in designing and facilitating workshops, no matter who participates. I’m often appreciated for my big-picture perspective, my contagious energy, and for candidly arguing on behalf of my team.

Originally from northern Sweden, I'm currently in Palo Alto, California, with my wife and Labrador. I'll be back in Stockholm, Sweden, for new adventures in early 2025. Whether it’s designing or building something new, I’ll always seek out those who value the craft and the people behind it. Those who find meaning in the how as much as the what. If that resonates, I look forward to the possibility of creating something meaningful together.

Thank you for the time. I hope our paths cross.
